The Esther Foundation Programs

Equipping by Education Programs

The 1:4 Initiative

Bridging the rural-urban digital divide by equipping students and teachers in primary and secondary schools with foundational ICT and digital literacy skills.
We focus on:

  • ICT training for students and teachers

  • Providing computers and digital tools to schools

  • Empowering youth with 21st-century employability skills

Smart Start

Smart Start is an early learning and literacy initiative designed to equip out-of-school children aged 4–12 in underserved communities with strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and numeracy.

This program focuses on improving the quality of basic education by providing access to creative learning experiences and literacy support for children who might otherwise be left behind.

Focus Areas:

  • Early reading and comprehension

  • Foundational writing and numeracy skills

  • Faith-based values and character building through storytelling

Program Schedule
Conducted exclusively during school holiday periods, Summer, Midterm, and Christmas breaks, to maximize participation and community impact.

Location - For now, the Smart Start program will run only in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, serving as the pilot location before expansion to other regions.

Storyteller

The Storyteller Program uses the power of storytelling, media, and creative arts to educate, inspire, and empower children and teenagers. By sharing meaningful stories that highlight youth voices and community transformation, the program promotes faith-based literacy, moral values, and cultural awareness.

Focus Areas:

  • Amplifying the voices of young people making a difference in their communities

  • Promoting reading culture and moral development through creative storytelling

  • Producing youth-centered educational and inspirational content

Goal
To inspire the next generation to believe in the power of their stories and to see education as the foundation for change.
