Giving Pathways

Child Nutrition & Basic Needs

What this pathway supports
School-linked nutrition and basic needs support that helps stabilize children’s ability to attend, participate in, and benefit meaningfully from learning—particularly in high-vulnerability and displacement-affected settings.

How TEF delivers this work
Support through this pathway contributes to TEF’s learning and stabilization programs serving children affected by displacement, including education and care initiatives within internally displaced persons (IDP) communities.

Program example
This includes TEF’s learning center serving children in internally displaced persons camps in Makurdi, Benue State, where education access is paired with essential care and learning support.

Why this matters
When children experience hunger, instability, or unmet basic needs, education is often the first casualty. Addressing these conditions alongside learning access helps schools function as spaces of safety, continuity, and recovery.

Education Access & Scholarships

What this pathway supports
Sustained education access and retention support that enables learners to progress from primary education through secondary school and into post-secondary or skills-based pathways, including tuition assistance, learning materials, and continuity support across key educational transitions.

How TEF approaches scholarships
TEF administers education access and scholarship support in partnership with schools and families to promote continuity, accountability, and long-term educational success—rather than one-time relief.

Program example
Support through this pathway contributes to the TEF Scholars program, which provides structured scholarship and education retention support across partner schools.

Why this matters
Consistent access to education remains one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic, economic, and social outcomes for children. Removing financial barriers helps protect learning pathways during critical stages of development.

Scholarship support is managed through a pooled education fund, allowing TEF to respond equitably across partner schools while maintaining transparency and oversight.

Education Systems & Future Readiness

What this pathway supports
Systems-level initiatives that strengthen schools’ capacity to prepare children and adolescents for future academic, economic, and civic participation.

How TEF delivers this work
Support through this pathway invests in digital access, skills development, and school-level infrastructure that extends impact beyond individual learners.

Program example
This includes TEF’s 1:4 Initiative, which expands access to digital tools and ICT learning by increasing the availability of shared technology resources in partner schools.

Why this matters
Sustainable education outcomes require more than access to classrooms—they require systems that equip young people with relevant skills for a rapidly changing world.

Best suited for
Institutional donors, corporate partners, and supporters focused on long-term, scalable education impact.
